Pennsylvania State Western Regional Team Tournament at Bowlero Noble Manor Lanes:   Saturday, March 9th, 2024: The Butler girls finished seventh overall (out of 20 teams). The top-six advance to the PA State Team Championships. The Butler girls shot a 3123 total. This is comprised of three regular games and six “Baker” format games (each bowler bowls two frames of a game). The Golden Tornado girls were in the sixth spot after the three regulation games and after two of the Baker games, but slipped to seventh after four of the Baker games and couldn’t recover the ground needed to reach the state tournament for the 12th time in program history. Kelsee McConnell had the eight-highest series of the tournament with a 535. Makenzie Zimmerman had a 524 (11th-highest series of the tourney). Sophomore Julia Black had a career-best 447 series, good for 36th overall.    (Historical Note:   Hempfield is the team who edged the Butler girls from the state tournament -- Butler and Hempfield are now tied for the most state tournament appearances among all teams within the WPIBL.)

Pennsylvania State Western Regional Singles Tournaments at Bowlero Noble Manor Lanes:   Friday March 8th, 2024: Kelsee McConnell finished 15th out of 74 bowlers (top-12 advance to the PA State Singles Championships). She rolled an 853 series over five game, missing the state tournament by nine pins. Kaylee Kniess finished 28th with an 805 series. Makenzie Zimmerman was 60th with a 670 series.

Three Butler high school girls bowlers have qualified for the Pennsylvania Western Regional Singles tournament following the WPIBL Championships Thursday. Kaylee Kniess, Kelsee McConnell and Makenzie Zimmerman will all be competing Friday, March 8th at AMF Noble Manor Lanes in Pittsburgh. The top 12 bowlers that day advance to the Pennsylvania State Championships the following weekend in Lancaster.

Greg Wilbert will represent the Butler boys bowling team at the Pennsylvania Western Regional Singles tournament Friday, March 1st in Pittsburgh. Greg earned a wild card spot based on his season league average of more than 197 following the WPIBL Singles Championships held in Mt. Lebanon Wednesday.    The Regional championships will be held at AMF Noble Manor Lanes.

The Butler girls bowling team finished fifth at the WPIBL Team championships Thursday. 24 teams competed at the event. Kelsee McConnell led the Golden Tornado with a 566 series, ninth-best out of more than 120 bowlers. She had a high game of 205. Makenzie Zimmerman had the 16th-best series of 530, with a high game of 223. The Butler girls will compete in the Pennsylvania Western Regional tournament March 9th in Pittsburgh.  The Butler boys season ended at the WPIBL championships Wednesday.

Butler vs Blackhawk Bowling results - 1/31/24: The Butler high school bowlers swept Blackhawk on their Senior night at Family Bowlaway Wednesday (1/31/24).  The Butler girls won 7-0 and were led by senior Kelsee McConnell who rolled a 622 series (games of 209-225-188) and finished the regular season with a 201.23 average. Makenzie Zimmerman added a 608 series (games of 223-195-190). The Golden Tornado girls completed a 10-0 regular season and advance into the WPIBL Team Championships February 15th in Pittsburgh.  (Match Scores:   Butler 854-795-829 = 2478.  Blackhawk  625-661-679 = 1965).   The Butler boys defeated Blackhawk 5-2 and were led by senior Colin Dorcy who rolled a 619 series (games of 191-215-213) and junior Micah Potts with a 613 series (183-175-255).  Junior Greg Wilbert, who led the team with 197.53 average this season, added a 586 series (167-215-204). Butler vs Beaver Falls - 1/24/24: The Butler Bowlers defeated Beaver Falls in their matches Wednesday at Family Bowlaway. The Golden Tornado girls swept their match 7-0 and clinched the WPIBL Northwest Section title. Kelsee McConnell led Butler with a 681 series and high game of 254. Emma Schultz added a 188 high game. The Butler girls improved to 9-0 this season. (Match Scores:  Butler -  884/829/794 = 2507  Beaver Falls - 602/557/594 = 1753) The Butler boys won 5-2.Greg Wilbert rolled a 554 series with a high game of 213. David Shever rolled a 543 series. Colin Dorcy added a high game of 208. Butler vs Seneca Valley Bowling - 1/17/24: The Butler boys and girls bowling teams posted 7-0 victories Wednesday at Belmont Bowl. The Golden Tornado boys were led by Greg Wilbert who rolled a 648 series with a high game of 225. Micah Potts shot a 587 series with a high game of 230. Kelsee McConnell led the Golden Tornado girls with a 599 series and a high game of 229. Makenzie Zimmerman added a 547 series and high game of 225. The Butler boys were led by Greg Wilbert who led all bowlers with a 650 series and high game of 256. Colin Dorcy added a 540 series with a high game of 204. Brayden Weiland added a career-high 538 series with a high game of 192. The Butler boys improved to 5-2 this season. The Butler high school bowling teams split with Blackhawk Wednesday (12/20/23) at Sims Lanes in Beaver Falls.  The Butler girls won 7-0 behind the bowling of Makenzie Zimmerman who rolled a 588 series and high game of 232. Kelsee McConnell added a 580 series and high game of 202. Kaylee Kniess had a 199 game. The Golden Tornado girls complete the first half of their season 5-0. (Match scores:  Butler-850/822/778=2450.   Blackhawk-674/693/588=1955.)   The Butler boys lost 7-0. Greg Wilbert led the Golden Tornado with a 598 series and high game of 224.
