Staff Bios.

Josh Forbes

Varsity Coach

Boys Varsity Baseball

 

Forbes came on as an assistant varsity baseball coach for Butler in 2018 and became the head varsity baseball coach starting in the 2020 school year.  The Butler Golden Tornado varsity baseball team have been to the post season in 2020, 2021, and 2022 under Forbes.

In the spring of 2015 Forbes coached at Greenville High School as a volunteer assistant.   He went on as the catching coach at Wittenberg University during the 2016 & 2017 seasons.  He was with the Butler BlueSox as the pitching/catching coach of collegiate summer baseball in the summers of 2015-2018 within the Prospect League. Forbes was an integral part of coaching the BlueSox to winning the 2017 Eastern Division Championship.  Forbes mentored Chucky Vasquez who went on to play with the Yankees in 2016.

While at the helm for Butler, Forbes has had the honor to coach many players that are playing collegiate baseball, David Leslie - Grove City, Cooper Baxter - IUP, Colin Patterson - California University of PA, Brady Gavula - Allegheny Community College, Braden Marcellus - Mount Aloysius, Karter Weitzel - Penn State New Kensington, Mac Schnur - Fairmont State, James Desmond - IUP, Conner McTighe - California University of PA, Lance Slater - Gannon University, Colin Casteel - Youngstown State, and Madden Clement - Virginia Tech.

Forbes played baseball at Seton Hill University where he was a 3-year starter and a student assistant coach in his final year of action.  Forbes was on the Seton Hill team that accumulated 172 wins / 56 losses in his 4-year career.  Seton Hill made 4 straight regional appearances and won the Atlantic Regional in 2014 where they went on to the D2 College World Series in Cary, North Carolina.  Forbes also played goalie for Seton Hill’s men’s soccer team in the Fall of his junior year.

Forbes majored in Communications and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications from Seton Hill. Employed as a strength and conditioning coach, catching coach, a Merit Specialist at Butler High School’s Camp Bucoco Program, and he lives in Gibsonia, PA with his wife, Holly.
